RUFUS – Governor Joey Rigg is still urging individuals who can leave Nox City ahead of the arrival of Hurricane Lola tomorrow morning to leave and encourages anyone who can’t to find a hurricane-rated shelter. He says this storm will claim lives if they don’t follow guidance from the state and city officials.

Early this morning, he signed executive order 1800191 that issues evacuations from Southern portions of Kingston County who are also set to be hit by the hurricane. Governor Rigg already closed schools and state government buildings through June 5, urging those who can leave to leave the city, coastal portions of Nox County and Southern portions of Kingston County.

“I am urging all residents who are still in Nox City to leave if they can and if they are unable to leave, I urge you to find a shelter,” said Governor Rigg. “This storm will be one of the deadliest hurricanes to hit our state. Please, I am urging anyone who has not left who can leave to leave. You will die if you don’t take shelter or leave Nox City.”

Governor Rigg says the State is prepared for post hurricane recovery and cleanup operations. The State government will also be shut down for the duration of the Hurricane as damaging winds and flooding will block evacuation routes.

“This is no time to go out and try to “weather the storm,” said North Lorray Highway Patrol Commissioner Preston Eaton. “We ask that you take shelter including going to your nearest hospital or hurricane-rated shelter. Troopers will be available after the Hurricane passes.”

The state legislature freed up funding for the use by Governor Rigg in his work to reduce the loss of life that is expected from this hurricane. The legislature also issued that it would provide a blank check for post-storm recovery operations in a bipartisan statement issued early this morning.

At least 325,000 people left Nox City, and over 21,000 people evacuated South Kingston County ahead of the storm’s arrival tomorrow morning. According to officials, the state also provided resources and worked throughout the week to remove homeless individuals from the streets as they worked to provide them with temporary shelter.
