RUFUS – Brighton Lieutenant Governor Brooklyn Aarondale swiftly defeated Republican challenger Gregory Mortensen in a 278-181 sweep that saw Nationalist retain control of the Governor’s office. She will succeed her boss, Gina Loakland next month.

Mortensen has yet to concede, but it is expected that he will concede the election later this afternoon. Mortensen has been a key challenger against Governor Loakland, and was even more fierce against Aarondale who he called a “back riding politician.”

“I am humbled and honored to be able to continue serving you as your new Governor,” said Governor-Elect Brooklyn Aarondale. “We must work together to continue building upon Governor Loakland’s agenda and work to progress that she has made in our state, fighting Republicans in Congress and working to make a stronger, and more accepting Brighton for all.”

Aarondale will be sworn in as the 2nd Governor Of Brighton on June 25, taking office at 8:00 AM. Loakland says she will attend the inauguration and says that “Aarondale’s victory is a victory for all Brightons, who fight every day for their place in the state and the right to express themselves that Republicans find “inappropriate.”

Aarondale has also outlined her plans to increase Brighton’s investment in the precious industry, working with steel plans to increase grants and contracts to up the processing of metals in thousands of factories across the state. She says she will work with career marketplaces to boost the metal industry by providing school-direct-to-training for those who are interested in entering the precious metals industry.
