RUFUS – Governor Joshua Adamson has selected State Senator Trevor Locke to succeed the late Jesstopian Senator Rachel Shermann. Governor Adamson confirming his appointment on the Governor’s website, he said he will continue to serve the people of Mesa through his appointment.

Governor Adamson had been eyeing Shermann’s replacement since her death was announced on September 15. He said he was going to give it time before announcing who he will send to Congress. Adamson lowered State flag to half-staff following her death.

“State Senator Trevor Locke has time after time proven he is an advocate for the people of the State of Mesa and who is willing to do what is difficult even when it’s not popular,” said Governor Joshua Adamson. “He consistently delivers for our people every day ensuring fair and appropriate spending of taxpayer money and will carry on the mission in the Jesstopian Senate.”

State Sen. Locke issued a statement to his website following his appointment. In the statement he thanked Governor Adamson for the opportunity to serve in the Jesstopian Senate and said he would not let the people of Mesa down.

“It is the greatest honor that I accept the appointment to serve in the Jesstopian Senate to fill the vacant seat left by the death of Senator Rachel Shermann,” read Locke’s statement. “I thank Governor Adamson for the opportunity to carry on our mission to make Mesa great and keep our children safe. I look forward to being able to work alongside Republicans in Congress to keep ensuring that our children are not being taught work lessons and will work everyday to continue to fight reckless spending, high inflation and address the struggles everyday Jesstopians in our country are facing.”

Officials have not confirmed when Locke would be sworn into his Senate seat and said that it will likely take place sometime next week, with estimates saying he could be sworn in as early as Wednesday next week. Locke did say that he was working on a date that would work best for him to take office. Officials in the Mesa State Senate say he is by Mesa law required to resign from office to take on his new role as a Jesstopian Senator and as of today he has not announced any plans to do so.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Rodham has said that he is looking forward to working with Locke and move his State proposal to end LGBTQ parades in the State, nationwide and moving to Locke on several key spending cuts and other valuable spending rules for Congress.

“Trevor Locke will bring a unique perspective to our chamber and his successfully legislation to reel in state spending was successful,” said Majority Leader Harry Rodham. “We can bring that federal and I think it would help us reduce inflation that was caused by reckless Nationalist spending. I look forward to working with Locke on these important issues.”
