RUFUS – New Shire Governor David Rivera has announced that he is running for President during the 2028 Presidential Election after months of attacking President Laylin and his harmful policies. Sources familiar with the Governor’s plans say that this announcement had been brewing for quite some time.

Governor Rivera has served as Governor of New Shire since last year following the death of then-Governor Lynn Rodgers. Since taking office as Governor, he has pitted up against President Laylin on immigration and New Shire’s sanctuary status. He has been a vocal critic of the President’s anti-LGBTQ stances and views and continues to call out his abuse of power.

Early today, Governor Rivera announced that he was suing the President due to the deportation of a 32-year-old Towton man who had 4 children. The Governor said that he was rightfully in the country as he had received his permanent resident status back in 2023 under President John McCallum. According to the suit filed with New Shire’s 22nd Circuit issued that the President refuses to follow the law and is requesting millions and the return of the individual.

“Today is the breaking point, President Laylin continues to trample our constitution and yet Senate and House Republicans do nothing about it,” said Governor David Rivera. “I think most of can see right through the President’s clear and consistent violation of his oath, and the constitution. Together Nationalists made Jesstopia stronger, more welcoming to those who want to make a better life for themselves here as well as for those who are part of the LGBTQ community. That is why I am announcing my bid for the Jesstopian presidency in 2028.”

Rivera now enters a crowded Nationalist race as Republicans seem conflicted with running any other candidate following President Laylin’s announcement that he was running for reelection. With President Laylin likely to win the nomination for President, Nationalists are still trying to find their most popular candidate including former Vice President Travis Loretti, former FCIS director Sharona Maples and now Governor David Rivera.
