RUFUS – President Jay Laylin has responded to Nationalist Representative Maxine River’s impeachment threat, which will target the President, Secretary Of State Bradley Vance and Secretary Of Defense Corbyn Willard, citing political motivation for trying to impeach him.
“Bring it!,” the President posted to his GovMedia in direct response to Rivers impeachment articles and threats. Attorneys for the Nationalist House say that any attempt to impeach the President Laylin on the grounds that his airstrikes were unconstitutional, illegal or unnecessary will fail as President Laylin has immunity due to his role as President of the United States Of Jesstopia.
Rivers who has been a staunch and outspoken critic of President Jay Laylin was a Representative who supported his impeachment when it was filed by both former Representative Gretchen LeWolf and Francine Wallis in January and March 2025 respectively.
“This president continues to defy law and violates his constitutional oath to “faithfully execute the powers and duties of office of President Of The United States Of Jesstopia,” said Representative Maxine Rivers. “He continues to dissolve the constitutional fabric that makes up our great country and our laws. He must be removed from power if we want our democracy to survive this president’s tenure.”
Republicans rebuked Representative Rivers’ statement and called on her to be censured for “attempting to cause a coup,” and cited her repeated “violations of House rules.” Rivers’ team said she would not be threatened or intimidated into backing off her plans to impeach President Laylin and his Secretary Of State and Defense Secretary.
“Representatives Rivers has made it clear that she will seek impeachment and most certainly will not be threatened or intimidated to backing off her plans to impeach President Laylin and his Secretary Of State and Defense Secretary,” said a spokesperson for Maxine Rivers’ office. “She has always been for and about the Constitution and rule of law. She is dedicated to holding the President and his cabinet accountable for every illegal action they take on behalf of this country.”
Due to the extreme split between Nationalists and Republicans and the complication of Republicans holding control of the House and Senate, Rivers’ impeachment efforts are more than likely moot as officials seem unlikely to reach across the aisle to impeach President Laylin, let alone remove him from office.
President Laylin seems willing to take this impeachment head on and seems eager for any action to be taken against him. His office confirmed that the President is not worried about any impeachment articles and would fully ignore any attempt and impeachment.
