RUFUS – Senator Nolan Burmaster has withdrawn his name during the 2028 Jesstopian Presidential election early this morning and says he will focus on delivering results for the Jesstopian people through his work as a Jesstopian Senator. Burmaster was elevated to Senator following the death of the late Larry Cofelt.
Burmaster’s office said that it was a decision he had been weighing heavily before ultimately deciding to drop out of the 2028 Presidential race. They said that he was focused on working on Senate case work given that he will serve until 2028 as the 5th Senator from New Shire.
“Senator Burmaster has made it clear, his dedication to the people who are served by New Shire’s 5th Senator in Congress,” said Judy Rivers, the Chief Public Relations officer for Burmaster. “He has said he is dropping out to serve the great people of New Shire in the Jesstopian Senate and says there will be other times to be able run for the Presidency but is focused on the people of New Shire.”
Burmaster is now the first Nationalist presidential candidate to drop out of the 2028 Presidential Race. Former Vice President Travis Loretti said that it was good thing that “he dropped out.” Loretti is seeking to be elected Jesstopia’s 4th President in 2028, and says “Burmaster stood in my way.”
The Senate is facing the 2026 Senate elections and Burmaster said he can’t risk giving Republicans any chance to win an even bigger majority and said that he would stop at nothing to ensure no further Nationalist seats were flipped by Republicans.
“Now we have an even bigger task and that is to serve the people of New Shire in the Senate and ensure Republicans don’t take any more seats,” said Sen. Burmaster. “I can’t risk giving Republicans any chance to win an even bigger majority. I look forward to continuing to serve in this great chamber.”
