RUFUS – Governor Joshua Adamson and Nationalist gubernatorial candidate Parker Sydd have officially agreed to hold two gubernatorial debates which will both be hosted in Porterstown Mesa. The first debate will be held on September 2, 2026, setting up the candidates for a likely bitter battle for the Governor’s office.

Representatives for both Governor Adamson and Parker Sydd’s campaigns confirmed the dates were agreed to by both candidates who said that they looked forward to a civil, open debate and said that the debate will help guide voters who may be unsure.

“I think the debates between Governor Adamson and Parker Sydd are extremely important because it will give us voters the ability to see what both men are about, especially those voters who remained undecided,” said Chris Lambersan, a independent voter. “We can’t have a governor who is too extreme and we can’t have a governor who is too weak. We will see which man is up to the job and we will weigh our votes accordingly.”

Governor Adamson has already seen a boost in his polling as Parker Sydd tries to build an even stronger case on why he would best suit the state over incumbent Adamson. Sydd is relatively unknown to Republicans who asked “who?” when discussing potential Nationalist candidates who could seek the office.

The debates will be broken into two dates to discuss varying topics that will be key points during the 2026 election. According to sources familiar with the agreement, several issues are planned on being discussed including health care, immigration support and education.

Both debates will take place before the October 18th election, but the second debate’s actual date has not yet been released according to the Mesa Board Of Elections. According to the Mesa Board Of Elections, the date is being withheld for “safety reasons.” It is heavily speculated that those concerns stem from Governor Adamson’s assassination attempt less than four months ago.
