RUFUS- North Lorray Governor Joey Rigg confirmed Friday morning that 15 people were killed during Hurricane Lola last month. He said issued that evacuation orders are designed to save lives and alternate travel arrangements can be made to evacuate those who have no way out of the city. He said it is important that the orders are followed.

Governor Rigg issued evacuation orders for Nox City on May 21, 2026, with Nox City officials reaffirming the evacuation orders of the Governor through their own evacuation orders and mandates. Nox City Mayor Daniel Leslie said that the State response to the Hurricane was “swift, effective and saved lives.”

“It is a sad day to report that we confirm that 15 people were killed during Hurricane Lola,” said a somber Governor Joey Rigg. “These hurricanes cripple lives and we urge everyone to follow evacuation orders. These storms are unpredictable and as we saw with Lola, we must follow guidance to ensure no one dies from these hurricanes. My heart and prayers go to the families of the 15 people killed. We also learned that over 80 people were hurt while returning home and wading through the flood waters.”

The State and City are still working to drain flood waters that have lingered due to lower-than-normal temperatures that have slowed the evaporation process. Experts say next week will be hotter and will help aid in more of the water being evaporated.

“The state’s response to this hurricane was swift, effective and saved lives,” said Nox City Mayor Daniel Leslie. “Governor Rigg is an effective leader who made decisive decisions that saved millions of people’s lives. This was the worst hurricane seen in our city and we lost 15 innocent people. We worked hard to ensure that all available options for evacuation assistance were provided. We are praying for the victim’s families and hoping for a quick recover for the 80 people hurt.”
