RUFUS – Former Mesa State Senator Trevor Locke has officially been sworn in as the 2nd Senator from Mesa after taking his oath of office at midnight. Locke was sworn in by Vice President Cole Bindle. Many Nationalists boycotted his swearing in, opting to work on other bills during his swearing in.

In his remarks to the Senate, he vowed to ensure that all Jesstopians are treated fairly, receive adequate services while also respecting the age of his constituents as he works to ban Transgender and multi-gender bathrooms. Locke is considered a hardline Laylin supporter according to sources.

“I am honored to be standing before you Mr. President,” said Trevor Locke to VP Bindle following his swearing in. “And I am honored to be standing here in this great chamber in front of all of you. We have a lot of work to do and it’s time we get back to work. Let’s keeping Jesstopia the greatest nation on planet earth.”

Locke is succeeding Nationalist Senator Rachel Shermann as a Republican again shifting the balance of power within the Senate as Nationalists lost several seats during the 2026 Senate Elections held earlier this month. Locke is also the 10th Senator to flip a Senate by appointment by a State Governor.

“I am proud of the work I did when I was in the State Senate and I will not let my fellow Mesians or Jesstopians down,” continued Senator Locke. “Our government needs to focus on the issues that matter to the people and I look forward to being apart of that mission and I thank Governor Joshua Adamson for appointing me to fill this great seat.”

Due to the stage in which Locke started his term, he will not be assigned to any committee assignments but will be a member of the Republican Senate Caucus, a caucus that all Republican Senators and Senator-Elects are automatically added to upon taking office.
