RUFUS – House Speaker Gregory Harks has formally invited President Jay Laylin to deliver his 2027 State of the Union Address on February 6. The state of the union address is a constitutionally required event that must take place annually. The address will be held during a joint session of Congress.
House Speaker Harks is required to invite the President of the United States Of Jesstopia to a joint session as the President must “receive an invitation to enter the legislative chambers.” According to Harks’ office he sent the invitation early this morning, with the invitation awaiting a response from the President.
“The Speaker is the only official in the entirety of Congress able to invite the President Of The United States Of Jesstopia and invites the President to Congress for the annual State of the Union Address,” said Mark Larner, a Congressional Historian. “Historically, before the Presidency was established, the Speaker was responsible for inviting the leaders of the country for a yearly meeting with Congress to deliver remarks during a private meeting of both chambers. The establishment of the Jesstopian presidency changed that.”
President Laylin’s 2027 State Of The Union is expected to be televised on all major news networks as well as on the Nationalist House website. According to sources, potential protests from Nationalist legislators are expected with Anti-Laylin protests scheduled on the day before, during and after the state of the Union Address.
The address is likely to cover immigration, healthcare, infrastructure and other policies that the Laylin administration hopes to push through onto Congress during the next year. Republicans say they will help President Laylin get much of his agenda through the Congressional legislative process as he works to continue restoring Jesstopia’s traditional family values.
Anti-Laylin activists have called his addresses targeted and unimportant claiming he has destroyed the very constitutional fabrics of the United States Of Jesstopia and its states. The argue that his continued raids on immigrant owned businesses, schools and homes is reprehensible. They say they will not back down and will continue to call the President out wherever he may be.
