RUFUS – Parker Sydd’s lack of experience in the political realm in State politics is drawing huge opportunity for Governor Joshua Adamson who has wasted no time in attacking him solely based on his lack of experience. Governor Adamson is polling higher in almost all major polls conducted between July 27 and August 16.
Governor Adamson who is finishing out his first elected term is vying to be reelected to another term and elected to Mesa’s first-ever four-year terms. Adamson remains ahead in the polls against Sydd, who trails significantly with a 8 point difference.
“Sydd has no experience with Major Politicis,” said Governor Joshua Adamson. “There is no way someone who does not understand the political system can run our state the way a season politician can. I am not questioning his capabilities as a person, but as a governor he would flop.”
The race intensifies as both men continue campaigning around the state with Adamson enjoying relatively high ratings in various categories including the economy, justice and education, and rates higher on policy relating to women’s rights and women’s health. His ranks lower that Sydd in LGTBQ rights and transgenderism across the state by Nationalists. All Republicans polled, said they approve of his anti-LGBTQ message.
Adamson’s concerns about Sydd’s lack of political experience have been supported by analysts who say “hoping that a governor knows what they are doing in the political sphere is dangerous.” They confirm that the fears are somewhat warranted but say only time will tell. They say that political outsiders struggle to gain meaningful connections with political leaders as they oftentimes view them as threats to their power.
“My political experience is lacking, but I know that career politicians such as Governor Joshua Adamson need to back off of what we are trying to accomplish,” said Parker Sydd. “The fact that I am not tied to any Political Action Committee is good for the people of Mesa because I am not bought and paid for like the Governor is. I am proud of the work I will be able to do and work to fairly legislate for everyone.”
Adamson and Sydd are set for their first debate and it is expected to be focused around infrastructure, funding concerns and healthcare. Adamson has ranked 13th in infrastructure during a July 2026 nationwide poll for Governor’s and their infrastructure policy.
“Governor Adamson is overseeing 250 projects across the state targeting homelessness, yet the governor’s plans have only seen the start on construction of 1 apartment complex,” said Parker Sydd. “If the Governor had prioritized funding to these projects instead of wasting it on other non-essential projects, like widening I-75, and built the government-sponsored apartments, we would have a lower number of homeless living on our streets.”
