RUFUS – Residents who were unable to evacuate the city have received some reprieve after Hurricane Lola left the city on its way deep into the Southern portion of the Sea Of Jesstinian, where it’s winds will die off and it will dissipate.
Hurricane Lola arrived in North Lorray at 12:38 AM meaning the Hurricane dumped flooding waters on the city for less than 5 hours. The last hurricane that dumped as much water on Nox City was Hurricane Albert in 1991, which killed 320 people, who were out on a super yacht when the hurricane stuck. All 320 people were recovered in the water or who washed up on Nox City’s various beaches.
“We are thankful this storm has passed, but we have a lot of cleanup to do,” said Mayor Daniel Leslie. “While we expected this hurricane to last much longer, we do know that schools, and other educational facilities will be closed until June 5. Right now from what we are being told, all city streets are completely flooded and major structural damage to several dozen buildings are concerning to us. We will continue to provide updates as they become available to us.”
Statewide officials including Governor Joey Rigg, Lt. Governor Harry Adams, President Jay Laylin and Vice President Cole Bindle are scheduled to visit North Lorray and Nox City to assess damage. President Laylin has already committed federal aid to help clean up streets that he says will be “seriously blocked off by flood waters.”
“We will continue to work with Mayor Leslie, and President Laylin to ensure that North Lorray can get the support during cleanup,” said Governor Joey Rigg. “We are preparing for cleanup which we are expecting to take about a week to complete. We have machines coming in that will drain the water that are blocking our roadways in Nox City. There is a lot of cleanup work that will need to be done. Buildings have been flooded and we are working to get those buildings cleaned up.”
Emergency crews and rescue operations are set to begin later this morning as work to clear streets and sidewalks of flood waters to get the sidewalks back up and running. Crews will start doing recovery work after day breaks. Hurricane Lola was the shortest Hurricane in Jesstopian history, but the most destructive hurricane to hit Nox City.
