RUFUS – Hurricane Lola officially became a Hurricane Thursday morning after it formed as a tropical storm, quickly becoming a cyclone then this morning earned Hurricane status. As Lola became an official Hurricane, Governor Joey Rigg signed an Evacuation Order with many more to come. Nox City and Nox County residents are being mandated out of the area or into stormproof shelters.

Executive Order 1800188 was issued just after 5:00 AM and the governor said that he expects heavy rainfall to begin as soon as May 25, with Hurricane Lola then making landfall in Nox City by May 29.

“We are now expecting Hurricane Lola to make its way to Nox City, and Nox County by May 29, therefore I am ordering evacuations from Nox City ahead of it’s landfall by next Friday,” said Governor Rigg. “This Hurricane is expected to be one of the deadliest and costliest hurricanes in our state’s history. We cannot afford to lose just one life. We need to work together to ensure that all life is saved. I am working closely with City officials including Daniel Leslie.”

City officials in Nox are telling residents to follow all State-guidance and mandating evacuations for senior residents aged 50+ to ensure they are not caught in the storm when it arrives.

“We are advising all city residents to following the guidance of State officials and are asking residents to watch for updates on the storms on Governor Joey Rigg’s website as well as the North Lorray Emergency Management System where you will be able to sign up for email updates, alerts and real-time information,” said Nox City Mayor Daniel Leslie. “This year will be the worst season for hurricanes with at least 8 confirmed to be forming as tropical storms. We have already received contact from President Laylin who says he is ready to send disaster relief post-Hurricane and will provide any assistance necessary with evacuating Nox City and Nox County residents.”

Once Hurricane Lola arrives, Tropical Storm Matthias is set to enter the Sea Of Jesstinian, where it will speed up becoming a category 1 Hurricane, mostly expected to just miss the coast of Mesa.

Government officials on both the State and City levels have already begun deploying crews to aid in the evacuation of residents who do not have transportation or who need assistance due to medical issues. Tolls in Nox City are scheduled to be suspended, with Governor Joey Rigg being the sole authority to suspend tolling.

“Governor Rigg has also advised us that he does plan on suspending tolling as Hurricane Lola makes its way to us,” continued Mayor Daniel Leslie. “We do ask that residents make plans to leave as soon as possible as traffic will back up quickly as many people flock out of the city. Please be mindful of what is going on and as I said visit nlems.northlorray.org or governor.northlorray.org for continued and regular storm updates.”
