RUFUS – New Shire will swear Governor David Rivera into his first elected term after he succeeded former Governor Lynn Rodgers on July 28, 2025, following her death in plane crash. He will also be sworn into New Shire’s first, four-year term. The inauguration will take place at the State capital building at 9:00 AM, and his oath will be administered by New Shire Supreme Court justice Albert Cocina.

Rivera has vowed to continue to support the constitutions of both New Shire and the United States Of Jesstopia, by increasing protections to LGBTQ New Shirens, working with non-profit organizations to help build community centers which enforce free speech and offer free speech classes. He has also put a 121-million-dollar budget package to increase DEI programs in New Shire, invest in LGBTQ owned businesses and work to restore gender options on state and health documents.

“Together we defeated the Republican cult that choose, every day to violate the rights of hard working and loving members of the LGBTQ community,” said Governor Rivera. “Election day proved that the Republicans could not gain traction without pro-LGBTQ state voters. We will continue our fight against the bigoted hatred towards the community, and I will continue to do everything in my power to ensure that doesn’t happen here in New Shire.”

Upon his swearing in, he will be the first New Shire Governor to serve the State’s first four-year term. Officials across the state say that next year’s legislature elections will test the very fabric of democracy with Republicans itching to get control the State’s government.

“Governor Rivera will continue to drive our State into the ground and it is all because voters think he is the best option,” said former New Shire Governor Logan Reed. “Combined with reckless spending and liberal policies that diminish women, our state is headed for a collision course. We need to control the State Senate and House if we want out state to survive the next 4 years.”
