RUFUS – Jesstopian Senator Thomas Cooke has filed articles of impeachment of President Jay Laylin which he accuses President Laylin of abusing the powers of the Presidency to forego efforts by State governors to block unlawful immigration operations. In his 12 page impeachment proposal he calls out the Laylin Administration, namely the President for separating families.

“Since November 16, 2024, President Laylin has ruled over immigration with fear and intimidation and since then, has pushed harmful and frankly illegal bans on immigration,” said Senator Cooke. “In doing so, he has limited or put at risk immigrants seeking to become Jesstopian citizens. Just recently he signed several sponsored bills to ban State governors’ from being able to block immigration operations in their states that they deem illegal. If that isn’t the biggest abuse of power, I don’t know what is. Furthermore, he has enabled his Justice Department to target and arrest duly elected Governor’s who refuse to cooperate with federal immigration enforcement operations. That is why I am announcing articles of impeachment against President Laylin. I will privilege the motion so that an immediate investigation and impeachment vote can take place.”

He has received widespread Republican backlash and from Laylin’s supporters who call the impeachment as an attempt to “rescue illegals from deportation,” and “simply unfounded.”

“Senator Thomas Cooke is the epitome of say and do whatever I need to retain power and his calls for impeachment are simply unfounded against the President,” said House Speaker Gregory Harks. “If they want to impeach President Laylin over trying to enforce immigration laws, than voters will take that and it will decide his fate come 2028. He is simply looking for a resume builder and that is what this impeachment filing is doing. He can go on election day and say ‘oh look I tried to impeach President Laylin and that gives me credibility come election day.’ This is simply a show and that impeachment will simply fail.”

Other Republican lawmakers including Senator Tony Kararra points to Cooke’s inexperience in the Senate, calling him “incompetent.” Kararra accuses Senator Cooke of being a “liberal mouthpiece who couldn’t defeat Laylin during the 2024 Presidential election so he will do what he can to remove him from office.

“Thomas Cooke couldn’t even win the presidency and that has remain a bitter and painful reminder of the power and success of Laylin who took power away from Nationalists after decades of Nationalist control of the country,” said Senator Tony Kararra. “Thomas Cooke is a liberal mouthpiece who couldn’t defeat Laylin during the 2024 Presidential election so he will do what he can to remove him from office, even if that means making up faux charges against the sitting President.”

President Laylin responded to the announcement by simply laughing it off, calling it an “every day occurrence from Nationalists.” He says that he is not worried about impeachment as he continues is stark immigration enforcement.

“If I had a dollar for every time I cared when Nationalists tried to impeach me, I would have 0 dollars to my name,” the President joked. “They just simply need to get back to work for the Jesstopian people and stop these tantrums.”

Cooke’s impeachment filing was accepted by the House Impeachment Committee but is likely to be dismissed by the Committee as Republicans control the majority. House leadership says that they don’t see the impeachment going anywhere, with New Shire Representative Fredrick Dumont working with Senator Cooke to get the impeachment launched in the House, Co-sponsoring the impeachment filing in the House as Senators have no authority in the House.

“I believe as Senator Cooke does that the President continues to violate the constitution, and with a Republican Senate and House seems to pushing legislation through that would otherwise fail,” said Representative Fredrick DeMont. “In his official capacity as President Of The United States Of Jesstopia he has abused his power more than one time. This impeachment comes as he targets Governors of our country, who refuse to cooperate with his hate filled and illegal immigration enforcement. I happily support his impeachment and will introduce the legislation to the House Impeachment Committee on behalf of Senator Cooke.”

The impeachment articles face harsh criticism, and Representative DeMont faces sharp criticism as he advocates for the advancement of the impeachment proceedings. It is the first time a Senator has submitted articles of impeachment to the House and the first time a Representative has agreed to take the flack and push the articles of impeachment through the House on behalf of a Senator.
