RUFUS – Troy Frost a Cameron State Representative has been defeated by incumbent Governor David Spane who won 270 vote bank points compared to Frost’s 255. Frost who has served as a Cameron State Representative since 2020, was looking to defeat Spane and restore “fairness and equality to all Cameroons.”
Frost who was seeking defeat Spane won 255 vote bank points, falling short of the 270 needed to defeat Spane. While Spane did win the 270 first, he fell short in going over the 270 threshold that he once did in 2024. Experts say that could be sign in 2028 that Nationalists could win back the Governor’s office.
“I am honor, no humbled at the fact that the people of the Great State of Cameron of decided to and continue to put their trust in me as their governor,” said Governor Spane. “I will continue to work every day to keep costs low, ensure that our parents and children have the resources necessary to continue to grow and learn, and ensure that the people of our state remain protected from crime and victimization of repeat criminal offenders.”
Frost conceded calling his defeat “disappointing,” but reassured supporters that he would be “returning to run again soon.” He thanked supporters and wished Governor Spane a successful second term.
“I know many of you are disappointed in our loss, and yes it is disappointing. But the truth is, I will be returning to run again soon, and we were close to taking the Governor’s mansion,” said Troy Frost. “That is something to be extremely proud of. While we did lose this election, I wish Governor Spane nothing but the best and all an extremely successful second term as our governor.”
Vote certification in the state was completed late this evening, with the Federal Elections Board calling the race for Spane just before 10 PM. Governor Spane will be sworn in for his second term on May 10, 2026, where he will take his second oath of office. Spane is set to deliver remarks to the State’s legislature next week, and will deliver the 2026 State of the State address.
