RUFUS – Three states will hold their 2026 gubernatorial elections. The states are Cameron, New Shire and Lorray. Two incumbents are seeking reelection, and one is seeking his first full elected term. New Shire Governor David Rivera assumed office less than half a year before the end of Lynn Rodger’s second year, following her death. He is seeking a full elected term, to the state’s first four-year terms.
Voters in New Shire seem likely to keep a Nationalist in control of the Governor’s mansion, with predictions saying Republicans likely to take control of the State’s Senate. New Shire has been under Nationalist control since 2010 and it doesn’t seem likely to have a strong enough voter base to clinch the office from Nationalists, even though Lorenzo Marley is performing well in all major categories.
Lorenzo Marley(NS-R), David Rivera(NS-N), Nicole Pitless(L-R) and Vance Dempsey(L-N), and David Spane(CM-R), and Troy Frost(CM-N) have all suspending their campaigns hours before election day begins. All candidates have also suspended ad campaigns, which is usually done just 45 minutes to an hour before polls open.
The Federal Elections Board said that polls will open at 6:00 AM, and polls will close at 10:00 PM. They expect vote certification to take between 1-4 days to complete for all three states, but did not confirm an actual set time frame. As with the last 2026 election certifications, it took about 2 days to fully complete the certification of votes, and it is heavily likely that it will be about the same for this round of elections.
Over 20 million voters will hit the polls in three states, and it is estimated that 25,000 poll workers across the states will work election day. Voters are asked to bring their photo ID, and the voter registration record card.
