RUFUS – Cambridge Prime Minister Peter Davids has officially held his first “formal” press conference held at the Cambridge Government Complex, where he discussed where he plans to shift his focus to first, and what the state of the cabinet is following the abrupt exit of Fredrick Ricketts.

Prime Minister Davids, who served as the 1st Deputy Prime Minister of Cambridge from 2021 until 2026, has the knowledge and experience to lead the country, and many of his key allies are gearing up to stand behind him as he gets to work for the Cambridge people.

“I think what happened last week was a shock to the nation, and as many of us here in the cabinet began dealing with the fallout of Ricketts’ resignation, we knew what needed to get done and how to do it,” said Prime Minister Peter Davids. “I think what we now need to do is get to work, finishing up the work that he started when he was still in office. I am committed, as much as he was, to lowering the cost of living, improve healthcare coverage, and continue working to keep our borders secure. We will also focus on continuing our strong partnership with the United States Of Jesstopia, and deliver safer and more secure borders for the people of our nation.”

World leaders across the globe have begun reaching out to him, to start his cabinet’s work with them as he takes on his first full week of duties this morning. According to the Prime Minister’s office, he has already spoken to US President Donald Trump, France’s Emmanuel Macron, Canada’s Mark Carney, and Mexico’s Sheinbaum. They say work has already begun on Davids’ plans to end the conflict between Iran and the United States Of Jesstopia, and have worked to join President Trump’s board of peace.

Prime Minister Davids also took questions on his predecessor’s resignation and how it affected him personally. The reporter from MadDog Journalism, asked if any other world leaders called to congratulate him and he said that several leaders called. He did not provide details on which leaders called him but said their calls were “appreciated.”

“Several leaders called me immediately following Rickett’s announcement that he was stepping down as the Prime Minister, and many of those leaders called to congratulate me on becoming the next Prime Minister of Cambridge,” answered Davids. “We have a lot of road to cover as we start working on my administration’s goals and objectives, while continuing work on existing legislation, and policy, and we will work every day to deliver to the Cambridgian people. We will focus on the important administrative objectives in the first few works, then branch out to other issues facing our country.”

Another reporter asked if he would continue to take the same anti-LGBTQ stance that former Prime Minister Fredrick Ricketts held and if he would work to provide protections for same sex couples as President Jay Laylin in Jesstopia is continuing his assaults on the same sex community.

“I will look at ways to ensure that all laws are followed with regards to respecting the individuals who are part of the community,” replied the Prime Minister. “We can’t really be focused on those issues right now as there are other pressing matters, but it is something I will definitely be returning to at a later time. As for what President Laylin is doing in Jesstopia, that is for him to do. I am the Prime Minister of Cambridge and will make decision that will benefit our people.”

Another reporter for NEWS 28, Stephen Stanton, asked if he believed President Laylin was doing a good job at creating a stronger military for both countries and asked if he believed that the strong relation with Jesstopia forged under Ricketts would continue under his leadership.

“I do believe that President Laylin is an important part of our military buildup and as Deputy Prime Minister, I saw him reach out his hand to provide us with generous funding to build and purchase military weaponry, machinery and vehicles,” said Davids. “The relationship forged under Fredrick Ricketts as you said was strong, and I have every intention of continuing to push forward our strong relationship with the country as well as President Laylin.”

During the press conference he was asked if he believed Cambridge was still affordable and if he would be able to further lower the cost of insulin, as promised back in 2022 by then-Prime Minister Ricketts.

“I believe we are seeing the cost of living here drastically coming down and that is great for our country and the people that live here,” answered the Prime Minister. “Insulin costs have also seen a very sharp drop, but I know we can work to lower them even farther. We are currently working to lower them with major Cambridge drug companies as well as suppliers in the United States Of Jesstopia. We are committed to keep drug and living costs down here and we have already seen great progress on that front.”

The prime minister wrapped up his morning press conference and his office said that he was on his way to meet with national leaders all across Cambridge. The Prime Minister’s office said that he has a business next few weeks as he meets with Provincial, National and foreign leaders through April 18.

“Prime Minister Davids will be business for the next three weeks, and will meet with various leaders from the provinces, federal officials and foreign leaders and officials,” said Davids’ press secretary Nathan Prescott. “He will be extremely business as he builds his own personal relationship as Cambridge’s head of state, and not as second in command of the country.”

His office did confirm that he was going to work to ensure two press conferences per week after April 18, as he looks to be as transparent as humanly possible without jeopardizing the national security of Cambridge.
