RUFUS – Hilson Governor Westley Bronson won reelection early Monday morning just hours after polls closed in Hilson. Governor Bronson defeated Republican Dennis Remmington in a vote of 278-260 VBP. Remmington has not yet called Governor Bronson to concede.
“We as a State have a lot more reflecting to do and right now it is heavily important that we stop Republicans from trampling your rights as citizens, and for far too long we’ve seen President Laylin and his Republican sheep try and trample the rights of LGBTQ Hilsonites and Jesstopians as a whole,” said Governor Bronson. “We will continue to work to safeguard you and what you stand for. Hilsonites are stronger united, not divided. We will continue to provide you with everything you need. Jay Laylin will not win and Republicans can not take our state.”
Governor Bronson said he did not receive a call from Dennis Remmington but did say he expects to carry on his policy and is not concerned about not receiving the phone call. Bronson says he will carry on working on his legislative policies and is expected to sign 18 bills into law in the coming weeks.
“This state lost its mind, not electing Republicans to fix the mess that Nationalists created. Voters will now have to live with that decision,” said Dennis Remmington. “Although I don’t agree with the way voters voted, I respect that their voice was made loud and clear to me. I hope folks will come to the senses sooner or later.”
Remmington says he will give Governor Bronson a call later today and says he hopes that the state will not fall apart under continued Nationalist leadership. He says his political career in Hilson is far from over. He says he will seek other opportunities but did not specify what they were.
Experts say that Remmington likely lost due to lower-than-normal Republican support for his candidacy, which was seen early on in his campaign with many center-right leaning Republicans not supporting him as they felt he was “extreme”. Republicans had hoped to put up a stronger candidate but were left with Remmington as their strongest.
