RUFUS – Former Jesstopian Senator won a shocking victory over incumbent North Lorray Governor Linda Lee and will take office as the State’s 22nd Governor. Harry Adams, a former 2024 Gubernatorial candidate will take office as Rigg’s Lieutenant Governor.
Polls closed yesterday at 10:00 PM with vote certifications taking place until he was named the winner of the election at 12:58 AM. Officials in the State Senate will still need to confirm the results of the election before inauguration day but it is very likely that the Senate will not delay the election given that a Republican will not control the Governor’s office in a Nationalist-led State House and Senate.
“I am beyond grateful to the great people of North Lorray who elected me to serve as their next governor,” said Governor-Elect Joey Rigg. “I look forward to working with Governor Lee as we transition from her administration to mine. Together we will put North Lorrayans first and will not cater to LGBTQ North Lorrayans and will work to restore traditional values back to our state and cut funding to LGBTQ programs that harm our children and state as a whole.”
Governor Lee did call Governor-Elect Rigg to congratulate him on his victory and she held her own post-election rally where disappointed supporters awaited her concession speech in Dwight Creek. She showed up 15 minutes late but delivered her speech after which she received applause from the crowd of tens of thousands of supporters.
“I know it is very disappointing that we fell short by 50 vote bank points but that is part of the election process,” said Governor Lee. “Together we accomplished great things, and we will continue to do great things as we work with Governor-Elect Joey Rigg in the transition. We were able to gain major victories for transgender North Lorrayans in our time in office. I look forward to what the future holds for our state and as one State, we must stand strong against hate and work to coexist peacefully. I have one month to go before we give the Governor’s office to Republicans, and in that time I hope to pass several more bills before I go, safeguarding LGBTQ North Lorrayans.”
Rigg will be sworn in at the State’s capitol building on Sunday, March 15, at 9:00 AM. He will be sworn in by the State’s Supreme Court Chief Justice Martha May. He is expected to sign several day one executive orders at that time. He is also set to meet with State leaders to lay out his agenda.
“It is horrible that these are the times we are living in,” said Jordan, a Nationalist voter and member of the LGBTQ community. “He is going to rip our rights away as President Jay Laylin is doing and it hurts to know that we are not supported by the other side. We just want to exist on our own and we are now at threat of having the removed.”
“It is a very good day for North Lorray. For far too long have we been prisoner to wokeism and today proves that wokeism is dying in North Lorray,” said Gary Mable, a Republican voter from Nox City. “It is time we take back our state and let the woke left know we aren’t taking their shit.”
Joey Rigg received 8.3 million votes whereas Governor Linda Lee only recieved 6.9 million. Meaning he won 1.4 million more votes thus giving him the 271 VBP necessary to win the election. Governor-Elect Rigg has been invited to meet outgoing Governor Linda Lee at the Governor’s mansion.
