RUFUS – The Laylin Administration says that it will begin seizing land from New Shire after it says it will not relinquish land to the federal government to build two immigrant detention facilities. The Federal Government says that the move is legal as the Federal Government controls almost 99% of Jesstopians land under the Imminent Domain Law in Jesstopia.
Governor David Rivera, who said he would not relinquish land to the federal government to build what he calls “mass deportation centers,” has also been criticized by the President. The President said that the federal government will seize the land from the state.
“If New Shire officials want to make this more difficult so be it,” said President Laylin. “We will simply seize the land by authority of the Jesstopian Federal Government. These detention facilities will be built in New Shire, the state with the largest percentage of illegal immigrants.”
State officials say that if the Government seizes the land, they will take the issue to court, but legal experts say the State will flat on its face as they are subordinate to the federal government.
“If New Shire tries to stop the federal government from seizing the land, they will lose entirely, because legally, the lands that the State “owns”, truly belongs to the United States Of Jesstopia and not New Shire,” said Dusty McCloud, a legal analyst for NEWS 28. “New Shire can’t win this battle if it is taken to court. They should just cooperate and make it easier on itself.”
“The President is a hateful person who will stop at nothing to deport asylee seekers from other countries,” said New Shire Lt. Governor Brendan MacDonald. “Our state will stop at nothing to ensure we protect our state’s sanctuary laws. Immigration Detention facilities in New Shire will not stand and we cannot allow them to be constructed here.”
“We will continue to fight this corrupt administration,” said Governor Rivera. “We will not let the Laylin Administration win this fight and we will do what we can to protect our vulnerable immigrants living in our state. We will fight for their safety, sanctuary and ensure that all immigrants in our state remain in place.”
When the land is seized, New Shire could also face a severe cut in federal funding that is pushed yearly to state governments. If the State refuses and attempts to block federal officials from accessing the lands, Federal funding could be halted until those state’s cooperate.
