RUFUS – Congress is nearing its final day of the Session with it scheduled to recess tomorrow and close out the 84th Congress. Congress will reconvene for the 85th Congress on January 1. Congress will be closed out by Speaker Gregory Harks.

“Tomorrow we will see Congress go into recess until January 1, meaning that all legislative activity will cease until New Years’ Day,” said David Chiles, a political commentator for Jesstopian News Network. “Senators and Representatives will not convene in Congress for any formal votes, including pushing through legislation related to the 2026-27 fiscal year budget. They reconvene to a heavily loaded schedule of votes. Votes will resume on January 2, a day after Congress reconvenes for the new session.”

In the upcoming 85th Congress, the House and Senate are planning to slam through much of President Laylin’s agenda and work to deliver results on healthcare, education and continued border security, with new measures being introduced in the House on January 5. The Senate Republicans are already preparing for several more confirmation hearings for several Laylin federal judge appointments.

“We have a lot of work to do going into the 85th Congress and we know that there is so much more that we can do,” said Speaker Gregory Harks. “We will continue to work towards getting President Laylin’s agenda passed including more protections for Jesstopian children, forcing foreign nation’s to start paying for illegal alien deportation efforts and tax credits for low income earners. We are also scheduled to hold hearings on election protections and hope to pass several measures at keeping our elections secure and free of illegal votes.”

Senate Republicans are also planning to aid in rapidly passing legislation aimed at strengthening the moral and traditional values of Jesstopian families, improve economic status of Jesstopians nationwide, and target drugs and human trafficking. Other measures include protecting parks and other natural landmarks.

“We have plans to push forward several proposals to stop the destruction of our forests to ensure our children, grand children and great grandchildren can enjoy them,” said Senator Majority Leader Harry Rodham. “We are looking at ways to address increasing domestic human trafficking and drug smuggling across our state lines. This is a major problem that our country faces and we are ready to face them fully head on at the start of the 85th Congress.”

Officials say that the Capital building will be open for public tours during the little more than two weeks that Congress is not in session. The Capitol says that tours can be requested on the Representative’s website or on Congress’s website.
