RUFUS – Department Of Homeland Security Secretary Nominee Jerry Meckler has been confirmed by the Senate in a late-night confirmation vote. Only 2 Nationalists voted against his nomination with a majority of Nationalists supporting his nomination.

The Senate convened for a floor vote on the Motion To Confirm Jerry Meckler as the Department Of Homeland Security’s next Secretary. The vote took place at around 12:00 AM, and all but two Senators voted in favor of his nomination. Senators Dorothy Cox and Thomas Cooke, both from New Shire, voted against his nomination.

“We now have a new Secretary Of Homeland Security,” said a happy Senate Majority Leader Harry Rodham. “We’ve worked hard to ensure that President Laylin’s DHS Secretary nomination was the forefront of our agenda. Nationalists did give us the option to wait until we took control of the Senate and we thank them for that. We were able to get the nomination swiftly with only Senators Cox and Cooke voting against it.”

Meckler was seen as the most qualified DHS Secretary nominee and the Senate agreed that he would make a good Secretary of Homeland Security, with Nationalists expressing early support for his nomination. Senators across the aisle say that they supported his nomination based merely on “qualifications” and “experience”.

“The Nationalist caucus saw him as the perfect choice for DHS Secretary because he has been with DHS and has proven himself to be a valuable asset to our country,” said Senator Sarah Levin. “He was the obvious choice and we look forward to the work he will do to protect our nation.”

Meckler is scheduled to be sworn in on Tuesday morning and will be sworn in by Supreme Court Justice Robert Kott. Meckler will succeed interim DHS Secretary Patrick Wheat at 6:00 AM, when the oath is administered. DHS has been led by Wheat since October 17.
