RUFUS – The Jesstopian Senate has just announced that Jerry Meckler, President Jay Laylin’s nominee to become the next Department Of Homeland Security Secretary will receive a confirmation hearing on December 5, 2025. The hearing will take place in the Homeland Security Committee hearing room and will begin at 1:00 AM.
Meckler was nominated to fill the vacancy left following the Assassination Of former DHS Secretary Marcus Welder. Meckler was nominated on October 26 and has been awaiting a confirmation hearing that the previously Nationalist-led Senate said would let the Republican-led Senate decide. Meckler has served as the DHS Director Of Terrorism Prevention since 1988. He was selected for his various accomplishments in catching Jesstopia’s top terrorists.
In 1988 Meckler stopped six terrorist attacks on US warships in 1988 drawing praise from then-US President Ronald Reagan. He also stopped several domestic terrorist incidents in both Peach Tree, New Shire and Nox, North Lorray in 2019 and 2024 respectively. He has been praised for his work to protect Jesstopia’s homeland, gaining praise from high-ranking officials including the late DHS Secretary Marcus Welder.
“Mr. Meckler is exactly what we need in a Secretary Of Homeland Security. He has the experience to make decisions critical to the defense of our homeland,” said former Senator Joey Rigg. “He has proven himself time and again, and has stopped terrorist attacks against our country, that has to be worth something.”
Meckler also drew support from former President John McCallum who worked with Meckler during his four years in office. McCallum said he was an “exemplary Jesstopian focused on protecting the Homeland and stopping terrorism.”
“During my Presidency Meckler was a key player in preventing several terrorist attack that could have killed thousands,” said former President McCallum. “His service to our country is immeasurable and I believe that President Laylin made a great choice. Meckler is an exemplary Jesstopian focused on protecting the Homeland and stopping terrorism.”
Former House Speaker Nolan Burmaster says that the Senate should quickly move to confirm Meckler so that he can get to work further protecting Jesstopia from terrorism and other threats that face our nation.
“I don’t agree much with what President Laylin is about, but I believe that he chose correctly to nominate Jerry Meckler to serve as the next Department Of Homeland Security Secretary,” said former Speaker Burmaster. “The Senate should quickly move to confirm Meckler so that he can get to work further protecting Jesstopia from terrorism and other threats that face our nation daily.”
Nationalist Senators say they would support his nomination as he ‘seems to be the right person for the job.’ Senators including Minority Leader Larry Cofelt said he would work to advance his nomination and would rally Nationalists to support Meckler’s nomination. This is the first sign of non-partisan support for a candidate from Nationalist since losing the Majority back in September.
“We need a secretary who will be able to protect our country,” said Senate Minority Leader Cofelt. “Now is not the time for partisan politics and time to come together as Jesstopians and support a person who will defend our very home.”
The Senate is set to hold Meckler’s confirmation hearing on December 5, 2025, and it is highly likely that his nomination will be advanced to the Senate floor. Republicans control the Senate and many Republicans are likely to get behind Meckler’s nomination.
