RUFUS – Representative Gregory Harks, who served as Minority Leader of the House, has been elected Speaker Of The House. Harks received full support from 264 Republicans and only two Nationalists.

Speaker Harks was sworn in as Speaker at 12:59 PM, and will serve for the next 3 years as the House’s speaker. In a brief statement after his Speakership victory, Harks gave a unifying speech vowing to “work for the Jesstopian people and work together with Nationalists to better the lives of all Jesstopians.”

“I am so honored to be able to sit in this chair as your Speaker and thank you for giving me this great honor,” said Speaker Harks. “As your Speaker, I will ensure we are working effectively to govern the great people who have elected us to serve in this great House. We will work for the Jesstopian people and work together with Nationalists to better the lives of all Jesstopians.”

Speaker Harks has not decided on a Deputy Speaker as of yet, but it is expected that he will announce his Deputy later this evening. He has said that he has several individuals in mind but did not confirm who they could be.

Harks won 266 votes for Speaker with just 2 Nationalists voting for his Speakership. Talks immediately took place between Nationalists and Republicans to quickly vote in a new Speaker Of The House. Speaker Harks is set to address the entire Congress this afternoon.
