President Laylin Delivers Remarks During Richard Banks Funeral And Memorial Service At The Nationalist House Burial Grounds On September 18, 2025.
RUFUS – President Jay Laylin attended the funeral service for former Vice President Richard Banks, on September 18, and during his attendance, he delivered remarks on the life and legacy of former Vice President Banks. He touched on his legacy for his dedication to cancer research.
“Richard Banks, while on the opposite of the isle, always put his hand out to work with Republicans on key issues, and the most important thing to him, was defeating cancer,” said President Laylin. “As a Senator, he would meet with Senate Republicans and proposed several cancer research funding bills, which I supported completely. His dedication to researching cures for cancer and cancer itself, will always be one of the things he is most proud of. I was honored to have worked alongside him to push forward funding for cancer research in Jesstopia. May his lasting light forever burn bright, and may our country find the cure for the horrible disease that is cancer.”
He reflected on Banks’ commitment to family and friends, pointing to Banks’ family and the people they have grown up to become. He says that Richard would be absolutely proud of his children today, on their darkest day.
“Richard loved each and everyone of you,” continued President Laylin. “If he could see you all today, he would be smiling. I know he was a man of god, so he is looking down on all of you, and I just know he has a huge smile on his face. He was so proud of being a father and I know he would love to be here with you all today.”
President Laylin and former VP Banks had a relatively neutral relationship, as Laylin played a key role in the Senate, which Banks had overseen as Senate President. The two would often work together in a bipartisan manner to ensure they could deliver meaningful legislation for the Jesstopian people.
Former Vice President Banks will undoubtedly go down in history as the most pro-cancer research Vice President in Jesstopian history, and his legacy will supersede his death in many ways.
