Former Vice President Richard Banks Lies In State At The Jesstopian Capitol. Pictured September 15, 2025

RUFUS – Former Vice President Richard Banks is lying in state ahead of his funeral on Thursday. Former Vice President Banks died of pancreatic cancer on September 12, 2025. His body will lay in repose until Thursday when his body is moved to the Nationalist House Burial Grounds where he will be buried at his final resting place.

Vice President Banks is being remembered for his dedication to cancer research, the very disease that took his life on September 12, 2025. Over the course of his life, he spread his support to all cancer research, which he focused heavily on before and after serving in the Nationalist House. Throughout his life, he devoted his time to personally funding and engaging in cancer research. He was devoted to ending the crippling disease and supported government funding for cancer research.

Several prominent speakers are expected at this funeral on Thursday, including President Laylin, former President John McCallum, former Vice President Travis Loretti, House Speaker Nolan Burmaster, Deputy House Speaker Thomas Cooke, several members of the Banks family, Several Senators and Representatives. His brothers will also deliver remarks as well.

“It is a very sad day for the United States Of Jesstopia and the Cancer research industry,” said Meghan Ashton. “Richard Banks was a strong advocate for cancer research, and finding cures for the horrible disease. We lost a true friend and cancer ending advocate. His legacy will forever live on. Rest in peace Richard.”

Members of the House and Senate also are scheduled to pay the respects later today, as flags remain at half staff until Thursday. House Speaker Nolan Burmaster said that Richard Banks’ death has “left a void in the hearts of many who loved him and supporter his mission to defeat cancer.”

Banks’ body will be buried at the Nationalist House Burial Grounds, where he is not expected to be given full military honors of a gun salute which is usually only afforded to Presidents and former Presidents.
