RUFUS – Republicans defeated Nationalists in dozens of races to claim the Majority after Nationalist control of the Senate for over 200 years. Republicans were officially declared in the majority following the certification of the final Senate race call, which was called just before 11:00 PM. There are now only 27 seats up for election next year, and Republicans could take even more seats then.
The Senate was comprised of 54 Nationalist seats to the Republicans 26 seats, the largest majority in Jesstopia’s Senate’s history. After the final race was called, the Senate is now comprised of 42 Republican seats and 38 Nationalist seats. This historic victory for Republicans also marks another major milestone and achievement of the political party.
Republicans have been in the minority since the founding of the country, and now, they have control of the Senate, which is a major deal, because now President Jay Laylin and Republicans can focus on delivering results for the Jesstopian people.
“It’s an extremely difficult place to be today,” said a member of the LGBTQ community, “Republicans plan on taking away our rights as individuals and will demonize the trans community.”
Others had a much more opportunistic and bright outlook on the outcome of the election. Many truckers cheered at truck stops across the country according to people visiting these truck stops.
“You should have been here when we learned that Republicans were on the home stretch to take the Senate,” said Donna Thomas. “Eric and I were elated with joy to learn that our livelihoods were going to be protected. I thank god for President Laylin and the entire Republican party. They will save us from being homeless.”
The Nationalist House issued the following statement regarding the Republicans’ Senate victory after it was announced that the results were in.
“It is my pleasure to congratulate our party on their hard fought win today,” read the statement. “We’ve come along way from where our country used to be and where it was headed, had I not won in 2024. We have a lot of work ahead of us and today’s victory should serve as a reminder of the mandate the Jesstopian people gave not only me but the Senate, and hopefully, soon the House. We have a lot of work to continue and I can’t wait to work for the Jesstopian people in these next three years. Let’s get back to work.”
