RUFUS – President Jay Laylin issued Executive Order 300.117, which is named “Ordering all Jesstopian flags to half staff for the duration of 14 days in honor of the Victims of the Midair Collision between a US Army Helicopter and an American Airlines CRJ700 on January 29, 2025.” 

The order was issued on January 30, 2025, by the signature of President Laylin. He issued the executive order as a response to the crash of both aircraft into the Potomac river in Virginia. The order is effective for fourteen days.

“We are heartbroken at the midair crash that took place in Virginia’s DCA airport,” said President Laylin in an audio message to the Jesstopian people. “We continue to pray for their families’ peace as they deal with this horrific crash. We are continuing to receive intel from the US Federal Aviation Administration to ensure that no ongoing threat of terrorism exists.”
